Don’t Leave Pets in Hot Cars!

IMPORTANT! It’s hot outside! Please don’t leave your dogs in the car this summer – even for a minute! According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), hundreds of pets die from heat exhaustion every year because they are left in hot vehicles.

It takes mere minutes for the temperature inside your car to soar to unbearable temperatures which can quickly cause heatstroke and death to your pets. The AVMA says the temperature inside your vehicle can rise almost 20º F in just 10 minutes, and almost 30º F in 20 minutes. Within one hour, your vehicle’s inside temperature can be more than 40 degrees higher than the outside temperature. Even on a 70-degree day, that’s 110 degrees inside your vehicle! Cracking the windows makes no difference nor leaving the AC on, which can shut off on its own after a few minutes.

Don’t let your pets sweat! Leave them at home!
